Blog Commenting for SEO?

The URL field is also not used to post SEO and comment spam with links to any service pages here. Comments that do not contribute anything to the article and are obviously SPAM will be deleted (see also the following explanations in the text).

Images and formatting in comments:

Occasionally, commentators try to include images in the text and use BBS notation of the type [url…]. This is not supported - and I consciously refrain from using a plug-in that enables the upload of images. The reasons:

Second reason: With pictures like this one trashes my webspace with the hoster. Every uploaded image takes up storage space - and if it is not optimized, there is quickly a layer in the shaft.

The pictures I have included in the blog posts have a maximum width of 640 pixels and are tailored to the layout of the blog. If a picture is included in the comment and it is already indented in a nesting level, the picture width would have to be reduced further. Otherwise, the picture protrudes into the right sidebar, which can cause unsightly effects.

If someone really wants to upload an image: limit it to 640 pixels width, save it in JPEG format and upload it to the image hoster imgur.com (ideally you have an account there so that the images are never deleted). Then you can integrate the picture as sketched above. And with the HTML attribute width, you can limit the image width in the <img> tag. But then make sure that something can still be seen on the uploaded screenshot.

I always find it funny when I get full-screen screenshots with a tiny error dialog box in the middle that I should then include. There are image processing programs where you can create image details and reduce the image and file size of JPEG files. If Microsoft thinks it needs to post 3,000 x 2,000-pixel screenshots on the web, that's up to them.

You can also work with HTML tags such as <b>… </b> or <i>… </i> to format texts. Please use this sparingly - firstly for optical reasons - and secondly because I have the feeling that the WordPress / plugin facial expressions do not always properly implement such HTML formatting. I have already had cases where a comment format was not canceled by the final tag, but was applied to the rest of the text and also subsequent comments.
